This specialty Chapter was conceived by a group of nurses from major health institutions in Nairobi involved in Infection Control. The group desired a chapter that shall advocate for adoption of evidenced based infection control practices throughout the country and behold. The chapter was established and officially launched on 18^th October 2007at the Panafric Hotel with a clear goal to foster a safer healthcare environment by reducing the transmission of infections.

What is Infection Prevention and Control?

Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) is a scientific approach and practical solution aimed at preventing the transmission of infections to patients, healthcare workers, and the broader community. Grounded in the principles of infectious diseases epidemiology, social science, and health system strengthening, IPC is essential for maintaining high standards of health and safety in medical and communal environments.

To promote infection control through education, communication and research
To provide members with a forum where they can exchange information relating to infection control.
To encourage membership from individual who are interested in infection control
To act as a resource on matters of infection control for individuals or associations.
To participate in formulation and implementation of infection control policies.
