About Us

History

The Infection Control Nurses Chapter (ICNC) was established in response to the growing need for a dedicated advocacy group focused on promoting evidence-based infection control practices across healthcare settings in Kenya. Conceived by a group of passionate nurses from major health institutions in Nairobi, ICNC was officially launched on October 18, 2007, at the Panafric Hotel. Since its inception, the chapter has been committed to fostering a safer healthcare environment by reducing the transmission of infections.

Over the years, ICNC has grown into a leading voice in the field of infection prevention and control (IPC), playing a crucial role in shaping national policies, educating healthcare workers, and engaging with the broader community to raise awareness about the importance of hygiene and infection prevention.

Mission

Our mission is to promote patient and staff safety through enhanced infection control practices by healthcare workers in both healthcare settings and the broader community. We are dedicated to advancing the science of infection prevention, providing education and training to healthcare professionals, and advocating for the adoption of robust infection control measures that protect the health and well-being of all Kenyans.
